Museum Trail Public Health Study

Through a public health study conducted by UMMC and funded by Jackson Heart Foundation, Museum Trail users are helping us better understand how public space impacts physical health, mental health, community connection, and overall quality of life. We’re hearing stories about lower blood pressure, reduced stress, renewed routines, stronger social connections, and what it means to have safe places to move, gather, and spend time outdoors.

  • "Having access to this trail has made a huge difference in my weight loss journey, giving me a consistent and peaceful space to stay active."

  • “It's become a space where I can think, decompress, and recharge.”

  • “Walking the trail has also helped to lower my blood pressure and I no longer take blood pressure medication.”

  • “Today, I needed a breather… a few minutes on the trail meditating and praying makes all the difference.”

  • “It's a ‘we're in this together’ vibe that cuts through the feeling of isolation…”

  • “Whether it's a quick greeting or running alongside familiar faces from the community, those small moments of connection create a sense of belonging.”

  • “A place of belonging and purpose!! It's something to look forward to.”
